Balaram Das Goswami (1479 – 1578) was one of the five Pancha Sakha, a group of Oriya poets who lived in the 16th century. He was a disciple of the Vaishnava saint Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and a close friend of the poet Jagannatha Das.

Balaram Das is best known for his epic poem Jagamohana Ramayana, which tells the story of Rama and Sita in a way that is accessible to the common people. He also wrote a number of other poems and hymns, including the famous song “Hari Bol”. Balaram Das’s work has had a profound influence on Oriya literature and culture, and he is considered one of the greatest poets of Orissa.
